The 2009 Decatur County Historical Calendars have arrived.  They are packed with historic photos and important dates in Decatur County's history.  You can purchase a calendar by contacting a member of DCHS, or look for our booth at upcoming community events.

DCHS Christmas Ornaments Arrive

The Decatur County Historical Society is proud to offer a Christmas ornament commemorating the formation of Decatur County in 1845.  The ornaments are available with a gold or red ribbon.  To purchase one, please contact a member of the DCHS or look for our booth at upcoming community events.

DCHS Launches Website

The Decatur County Historical Society is proud to launch its new home on the web. This site is intended to raise public awareness of the mission of the DCHS and the projects we are currently working on. Also interested persons will find information on how they can contribute objects and financial assistance to the society. We hope that with continued expansion this site will offer relevant information on the history of our county to its citizens and visitors from other locations.

Workday at Municipal Building

Several members of the DCHS met at the Parsons Municipal Building for a workday on Tuesday June 10th. They spent several hours sorting and indexing negatives from the Tom Jennings collection. This is one of the first steps necessary in preparation for publication of a book of Dr. Jennings' photos.
